How words get made
- Clipping: a word cut short ("rep", "re-up", "the flash" for a reflash).
- Hardware words for people: someone glitchy is unreliable, bricked is out cold or dead, patched is fixed up, wired
has a chip.
- Brand to verb: the app or machine everyone uses becomes the verb ("swap me a pack", "bot it over").
- Old words kept: a lot of street talk is the same as it was in the 2020s, because the street is the same.
- Borrowing: words from the neighbourhood's languages, used by everyone who grew up there.
