Reputation and heat
- Rep is credit. Being known as reliable gets work, credit and patience; being burned once can end a career.
Hitting someone bigger earns more rep than bullying someone smaller.
- Standing is per faction: a gang, the lender, the cops on the take each remember what the boss did to them. Every
job against one costs standing with it.
- Heat comes from noise: a loud job, a body, a famous victim, hostile turf; a school block draws more of it
(School blocks). It cools slowly. When it is high, the only fast way down is for someone to take the fall: a dealer does time, a rival is framed, a contact is handed over. Loyalty is spent this way.
